Looking for Answers

For many years, I believed I was studying astrology. Like many students of the subject, I immersed myself in planets, signs, houses and aspects. I learned techniques, explored different schools of thought and spent countless hours examining charts. Every new layer revealed another question and every question led to another area of study.

At first, I assumed that astrology itself was the destination. The birth chart appeared to be the object of study and understanding it became my focus. Yet as the years passed, something curious began to happen. The more astrology I learned, the more I realised that astrology was merely the doorway to something deeper.

The Pattern Beneath the Pattern

What fascinated me most was never the placement itself; it was the person. Two individuals could share similar chart signatures and express them in entirely different ways. The same planetary configuration could appear through different choices, different circumstances and different levels of awareness.

I began to notice that the chart described possibilities, tendencies and recurring themes, yet something deeper seemed to be participating in the process. Something was choosing, responding and learning through experience. The chart remained important, yet my attention gradually shifted towards the intelligence moving through it.

A Different Question

At some point, the questions I was asking began to change. I became less interested in predicting events and more interested in understanding experience. Why do people repeat certain patterns? Why does one person transform through hardship while another becomes trapped within it? Why do certain experiences appear at particular moments in life? What exactly is learning through these experiences?

These questions led me beyond astrology and into psychology, mythology, philosophy, Hermetism and the study of human behaviour. Each field offered valuable insights, yet I kept encountering the same underlying mystery. All of them seemed to be describing different aspects of the same thing: consciousness.

Seeing Consciousness Everywhere

The realisation arrived gradually rather than all at once. I began to see that every subject that captivated me pointed toward consciousness in one form or another. Psychology explored how consciousness perceives itself. Mythology explored how consciousness tells stories about itself. Astrology explored the conditions through which consciousness experiences itself. Hermetic philosophy explored the relationship between consciousness and reality.

Even ordinary conversations seemed to revolve around the same theme. Every person I met was attempting to understand their experiences, their relationships, their choices and their place within the world. The subject had changed. I was no longer studying astrology; I was studying consciousness through astrology.

The Living Experience

This shift transformed the way I approached my work. When I sit with a birth chart today, I rarely see a collection of symbols on a page. I see a unique arrangement of experiences through which consciousness can learn, express itself and evolve.

The planets, signs and houses remain valuable. They provide structure and language; they offer a map. Yet the map is not the traveller. What interests me most is the living experience unfolding through the individual. The chart describes the landscape; consciousness walks the path. Every person expresses that journey differently and every life becomes a unique conversation between potential and choice.

The Study That Never Ends

Today, I carry more questions than I did when I first began. Yet those questions feel different. They no longer arise from a desire to arrive at a final answer. They arise from a deep appreciation for the mystery itself.

Looking back, I can see that astrology was never the destination. It was the doorway. Through it I encountered mythology, psychology, Hermetic philosophy and countless conversations that challenged the way I understood reality. Each revealed a different aspect of the same profound mystery and each drew my attention toward the nature of awareness itself.

I still study charts and I still read myths. I still find myself captivated by the endless complexity of human experience. Yet behind all of them, I now recognise the same silent presence that first captured my curiosity years ago. The symbols have changed. The questions have deepened. The fascination remains.

I began this journey believing I was studying astrology. Somewhere along the way, I realised I was studying consciousness all along.

Perhaps that realisation has become the true foundation of my work. Every chart, every book and every conversation serves as an invitation to look beyond appearances and into the deeper currents that shape our experience. The further I travel, the more I find myself returning to the same mystery that first called me forward. A mystery that continues to reveal itself through every human life, including my own.
