My name is Sophia Gaki. I am an author, evolutionary astrologer and teacher, and the founder of Astraea Evolutionary Astrology. My work brings together evolutionary astrology, Hermetic philosophy and depth psychology to explore consciousness, the patterns shaping human life and our capacity for choice and responsibility.
At the heart of my work is a desire to understand why we become separated from our own truth. I explore how emotional wounds, inherited beliefs and social conditioning influence the ways we protect ourselves, relate to others and make decisions. Through my writing, consultations and teaching, I help people give language to these experiences, recognise recurring patterns and develop a more conscious relationship with themselves.
Astrology forms an important part of this exploration. I approach the birth chart as a symbolic map of archetypal dynamics, offering a framework for examining the tensions, capacities and possibilities of an individual life. My focus is on how we participate in these patterns: what we express, what we suppress and how greater awareness can open different ways of responding.
My approach is deeply influenced by Carl Jung’s work on the unconscious, symbolism, archetypes and individuation. His exploration of alchemy and the relationship between conscious and unconscious life has informed the way I understand psychological development. These ideas run throughout my work, particularly in my exploration of the ego, the shadow and the parts of ourselves we struggle to acknowledge.
Hermetic philosophy provides another central thread, informing my questions about the relationship between mind, experience and the wider order of existence. My philosophical writing explores consciousness, freedom and human responsibility as subjects in their own right. I am particularly interested in how awareness becomes choice, and how our choices shape both our individual lives and the world we share.
My background includes training in counselling skills, psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, which deepened my understanding of emotional processes, patterns of behaviour and attentive listening. These studies continue to inform the care and consideration I bring to consultations and conversations about deeply personal experiences.
Music has also played a central role in my life for more than a decade. My work as a musician and percussionist cultivated a strong sense of rhythm, structure and relationship, alongside the discipline of listening closely. This remains part of how I work: attending to individual details while considering how they belong to a larger whole.
I am the author of two books exploring astrology and consciousness.
In The Cosmic Mirror, I bring together the Hermetic principles and evolutionary astrology, exploring astrology as a path towards greater awareness.
In Chiron: The Wound of the Ego, I examine Chiron through the wounds of the ego and the ways we defend our sense of self. The book offers ways to recognise and integrate these patterns, grounded in my understanding that the soul retains its wholeness.
Through Astraea, I offer consultations, mini soul reports and mentoring, alongside books, articles, videos and talks. These are different ways of engaging with the same purpose: helping people understand themselves more deeply and recognise where they have the capacity to respond, choose and grow.
My work continues to develop through study, writing and the conversations that emerge when people begin to recognise themselves in an idea. What holds it together is a commitment to making depth meaningful in everyday life, so that understanding ourselves becomes something we can put into practice.
